Researcher Profile

The Michigan Craft Beverage Council (MCBC) provided multi-year funding for our research proposal entitled: “Investigating the Terroir-Influenced Quality Attributes of Hops”. Michigan growers and brewers have noted the differences in hop flavors and aromas based on hopyard location since the reemergence of the Michigan industry. As Michigan growers look to create a distinct identity in the hop world, the MCBC funding helped us explore the possible factors that affect hop terroir and gave Michigan hop producers the opportunity to promote the unique brewing characteristics of Michigan-grown hops. We are excited to continue research that supports Michigan hop producers and greatly appreciate the MCBC support.

Project partners: Cambium Analytica, Founders Brewing Co., Silver Spruce Brewing Co., and Michigan hop growers
