FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Up North Cider Fest Brings Michigan’s Best Cider to Traverse City
Traverse City, MI – September 10, 2025 – Celebrate fall in true Up North style at the inaugural Up North Cider Fest, happening this Sunday, September 14, from 2:00 – 6:30 p.m. at the historic Village Pavilion & Piazza at Grand Traverse Commons.
The family-friendly, outdoor festival will feature 60+ ciders from 14 Michigan cideries, live music, and delicious local food, all set against the picturesque backdrop of one of Traverse City’s most iconic landmarks.
“Michigan is the Great Cider State, and we’re thrilled to bring so many incredible makers together in one place,” said Paula Englin, Executive Director of the Michigan Cider Association. “Up North Cider Fest is about more than just cider - it’s about celebrating Michigan ‘s rich agriculture, warm community, and the unbeatable flavors of fall.”
Meet the Makers
Guests will have the opportunity to meet cidermakers from across Michigan, including:
- Northern favorites like Tandem Ciders, Suttons Bay Ciders, Left Foot Charley, Townline Ciderworks, Elder Piper Beer & Cider, Two K Farms, and Farm Club.
- Statewide stars include Blake’s Hard Cider Co., Vander Mill, Odd Brothers Craft Cider, Painted Turtle, Bløm Mead + Cider, Sierra Rose, and Uncle John’s Hard Cider.
Music, Food & Family Fun
Adding to the atmosphere, Grand Rising featuring Thistle Down and Daniel Michael will provide live music throughout the afternoon. The festival also offers non-alcoholic options for kids and non-drinkers, along with tasty local food. The event will happen rain or shine.
Take Cider Home
In addition to sampling on-site, festival guests will have the chance to purchase cans and bottles to-go from select participating cideries. It’s the perfect way to bring a taste of the festival home and support Michigan makers beyond the event.
A Historic Setting
The Village at Grand Traverse Commons, once the Traverse City State Hospital, has been transformed into a thriving hub of shops, restaurants, and events. The Up North Cider Fest offers a chance to enjoy cider in this unique setting, rich with over a century of history.
About the Organizers
The festival is presented by the Michigan Cider Association (MCA), a nonprofit organization dedicated to elevating and growing Michigan’s hard cider industry. The MCA works to connect cideries with consumers, provide education and resources for makers, and promote Michigan as a national leader in excellent and innovative cider production.
